Serradura, Aunt Rosa’s way

CHF 4.00

A name from the carpenter’s bench. Serradura is Portuguese for sawdust, what the saw leaves behind, and here it is the Marie biscuit, crushed to a fine powder.

Cream whipped with condensed milk, layers alternating with the biscuit powder, and the cold does the rest. The biscuit softens, the cream holds. Every spoonful comes cold and sweet, with the biscuit melting away in the mouth.

To us, this dessert had another name: Aunt Rosa’s dessert. She made it on holiday in Portugal, and for years it stayed her recipe. We only learned later that it carried its own name and its own fame: a classic, known as far as Macau. To us, it stays Aunt Rosa’s dessert.
